After months of being cooped up and locked-down, it’s only natural to crave a change of scenery. But with summer travel plans largely thwarted, the question becomes: how to get away without going far away?
We can think of at least one local winery that is happy to offer you a little escape.
With the warm, sunny days beckoning us from our homes and show-stopping Ohio sunsets rewarding our evening attendance, Geneva in summer is best spent outdoors. Our patio is open for normal business hours, with seating arranged to allow for proper distancing. Or, grab a cozy spot on our lawn. Bring a checkered blanket, a picnic basket—we’ll provide the wine.
Settle in with a bottle of chilled white, your favorite snacks and your latest summer read. Wander the vine-flanked aisles of the vineyard and view the grapes in peak growing season. As the sun tucks itself in for the evening, unwind with spirit-lifting live music, scheduled on select Fridays and Saturdays, and indulge in local favorites from a visiting food truck (check our calendar for details).
If you’re hungry for more than small plates, make a reservation with our friends at Rennick Meat Market. You can’t go wrong with their delicious menu or friendly service. Then, settle in for a peaceful overnight stay at the scenic yet upscale cabins at Vineyard Woods. With a little planning, your wine country getaway can be picture perfect.
Okay, now which wine?
As for our summer staycation wine recommendations, we still can’t get enough of our Brut Rose. Crafted using the Champagne method to create the longest-lasting bubbles, it’s the perfect pairing for a warm summer afternoon.
Another excellent effervescent choice is our 2018 Estate Madelyn. Made in Prosecco style with tropical and apple aromatics, it makes a beautiful choice for brunch or a picnic charcuterie board.
Not in the mood for bubbles? Our 2018 Estate Chardonnay Reserve is a gorgeous white recreated in the classic Burgundian style.
