Choosing the perfect wine pairing for a single ingredient is tricky enough, let alone when considering the cornucopia of flavors that accompany our favorite November holiday. Never fear, wine lovers. To assist in your vintage selection this year, here are our wine pairing recommendations for classic Thanksgiving courses.

Hors d’oeuvres Wine Pairing | 2019 Madelyn

2018 Madelyn (Estate)

Nothing says “let the celebration begin” like bubbles, and the effervescence of our Prosecco-style 2019 Estate Madelyn is perfectly poised to kick off the festivities. The bright, fruit-forward flavors will nicely counter starters like cranberry pecan goat cheese spread, a charcuterie board, or a simple green salad. And as a bonus, the bubbles act as an excellent palate cleanser.

Entrée Wine Pairings | 2019 Chardonnay Reserve, Gewürztraminer or 2019 Pinot Noir

When it comes to the main course, multiple dishes mean more to consider. There’s the turkey and gravy, the stuffing (or dressing), and, usually, a smorgasbord of sides. With so much sensory competition, it’s good to choose something both stand-out and versatile.

2018 Chardonnay Reserve (Estate)

Enter our 2019 Chardonnay Reserve. With its crisp acidity, mineral undertones, and notes of apple and pear, it’s a great pairing for poultry. And, its creamy, full-bodied texture feels just right for a harvest-season holiday.

2019 Gewurztraminer (Estate)

A spicier varietal like our Gewürztraminer is ideally suited for stuffing, whether it’s a classic sage or something more assertive like apple-sausage. With its smooth texture and long finish, it could carry you straight through the rest of the meal.

2018 Pinot Noir (Estate)

Sausage stuffing would also love our 2019 Pinot Noir. Yes, white wine is the classic pairing for poultry. But a light-medium-bodied red is another elegant, well-rounded choice for the main course–especially on tables featuring savory red meats or wild game.

Dessert Wine Pairings | 2019 Estate Riesling, Gewürztraminer, OR 2019 Madelyn

2018 Riesling (Estate)

The contrasting acidity of our 2019 Estate Riesling offers a crispness that makes a charming companion for pumpkin or apple pie. There’s enough residual sugar to play nice with the slice, while the medium body and smooth texture create an ideal bookend to the meal. Alternatively, you could continue straight through with the Gewürztraminer from the entrée course. Its spiciness would beautifully echo pumpkin or apple cinnamon flavors. Or, bring back the bubbles as a contrasting lift to a pie’s weight and spice. It is a celebration, after all.
